Anyway, it's in a limited edition of 24, and each one comes in a hand-constructed package glossed over with Sparkle Mod Podge, which they don't even MAKE anymore. Collectible! |

Besides which, it's supposed to sound like a mixtape. So, new opinion: this album rules, and you should buy it. It's got everything from jaunty pop jams to sad-sack laments to tronix bleeders to stand-up comedy (for serious... well, actually, I think I was sitting on my knees when I recorded 'em, but whatever). When I got together with the Hoganson Bros., Thomas and Chris, I thought for sure we'd be doing this sludgy, heavy sickjamz kinda deal, but in the middle of us trying to do that, Chris exhorted something to the effect of "GodDAMNIT, I just wanna play pop songs!!". So, here we are. To describe it, I like to call this EP "Pete & Pete Core". Sometimes you just have to do what feels right, y'heard?

Do people in Long Beach feel that Warren G sold them out, perhaps? One time, I read an interview with Vincent Gallo where he accused Jim Jarmusch of selling out 'New York Underground Cinema', or something like that. Oh, well, Jim Jarmusch is still a way better, way less narcissistic director than Vincent Gallo.
Oh, yeah, and this is Friendhship Hurricane's new record. It's totally best thing he's done yet, and we're glad to be distributing it... even if he doesn't ever laugh at my joke.

So, in case you forgot, when I'm not melting your heart with velvety smooth voice, heartfelt lyrics, and "exercise(s) in intellectual condescension" (celestialbiscuit.com), I'm tweaking mixers and pedals and shit, fucked-style. This slice of tronix-wielding was caught for posterity during the "End Of Days Radio" show on Portland Radio Authority, and I just thought it was nice enough to release. Nicer, debatably, is the fact that 1), it's only available in a limited edition of 27(!), and 2), each one has different cover art. Really, $4 is a steal, dudes.

Finally: Casanova Temptations' first comedy record (well, some may give that honor to SECRET ACTUAL DOG MUSEUM, but they're wrong: that shit is SERIOUS, but besides, that shit's SOLD OUT). Brandon Ivey is the lyrical mastermind behind JIMES , but when he's not doing that, he also does non-musical standup comedy and film (he also has an "affinity" for adult diapers... not important, just kind of a "getting to know the artist" thing). At $6 ppd, tThis CD/DVD set is affordable as hell, and it's a real keeper.

On a very hot June day in 2005, Moscow, ID's James Victor Yeary came to visit Ann Arbor. Along with Patrick Elkins and Jason Voss, I kept James entertained for much of this trip. On his last full day in town, it was decided that music should be recorded, both while walking the streets of Ann Arbor and in the comfort of the Black Elk Co-Op House. You can smell the summer sweat on these tracks... fucked poetry, fucked sounds, fucked everything. It's short, like most of these Actual Birds collaboration dealies, but it's worth it. After all, one day your children will one day want to hear this.

PRICE SLASHED! When Exeter, England's own Hugh J. Noble (A.K.A. Hugh J. And The Picnic) played the living room of the Totally Awesome House in Ann Arbor, I was sufficiently impressed. Upon listening to Alseep on a melancholy post-Christmas Greyhound Bus ride, though, I was sufficiently persuaded to reissue this delightful record stateside. Featuring brand-new cover art by me, Asleep is a real gem; all the songs are the sort of wistful, clever, bittersweet pop that makes you wish you were friends with their creator. Enjoy!
